Finding Significance in Life - Part Two
God Loves Us, But He Does Not Want Us To Stay The Same.
True Significance Also Comes From Doing What God Wants Us To Do!

Over the years, I have heard people say that because of what Jesus did we don’t have to do anything.  Somehow, they’ve come to the conclusion that the Lord requires nothing of us because He loves us.

"For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.”  John 16:27 (NKJV)

“For the Father Himself [tenderly] loves you because you have loved Me and have believed that I came out from the Father.”  (AMP)

There is nothing you can do to get God to love you any more or any less than He does right now!  God’s love for us never wavers.  God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.

Now that we’ve established that God loves us, does that mean we don’t have to do anything anymore?

Over the years, I have heard people say that because of what Jesus did we don’t have to do anything.  Somehow, they’ve come to the conclusion that the Lord requires nothing of us because He loves us.

And God forbid that we should preach works or duty or commitment!

Does God expect something from us?  Absolutely!

If we do wrong, does God still love us?  Yes!  You could choose to go to hell and still God would love you!   However, God’s love will never overlook His Word!    Does this mean we can do anything we want to and God will continue to love us and always overlook our actions?  No!  God loves us, but He still places expectations upon us.

Even as parents, it would be wrong for us to allow our children to indulge in anything and everything, even if it is wrong, and then say, “It’s all right, I still love you.  Don’t stop what you’re doing because my love for you will cover it all up!”

This is one area where some parents have a distorted view of love and how to apply it to their children.

They allow their kids to do whatever they want and say it is all right, because after all, love couldn’t possibly put a demand on my child!

I have run into this problem many times when I’ve had to correct or rebuke or ask someone to change or really take a good look at their life.  It is as if some people think love is a reason to excuse ourselves of all responsibility in life.

“And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”  1 John 3:3 (NKJV)

“All of us who look forward to his Coming stay ready, with the glistening purity of Jesus' life as a model for our own.”  1 John 3:3 (MSG)
